I have loved horses since I was a small child. I did have Barbie dolls, but they all rode horses beautiful horses, that all had their own names, personalities, and families. Actually drawing horses in my classes at school, to look like I was paying attention and taking notes, was part of the path that eventually led me to become an artist.Horses still appear frequently in my art. This piece is inspired by the rhythmic almost dance like movements of horses dressage horses in particular. These horses are amazing to watch, they are so powerful, so beautiful, and so graceful. Some of the choreographed moves performed by Lipizzaner and Andalusian horses today, were originally battle moves to drive away enemy soldiers and protect the knight who was riding them. Smart horse, good boy, who deserves a carrot.
