Tiger art has a tiger with stripes looking back at the viewer. The tiger is surrounded by tiger-colored spots, so this is a tiger with both stripes and spots.

The main purpose of patterning for animals is to break up their outline, thereby making them harder see. For prey animals, this could mean not being spotted by an animal that would want to eat them. It could also mean blending into the crowd so that it is difficult to pick out and follow one individual.

I have painted zebras with spots, and cheetahs with stripes. So, the idea for this tiger art amused me, even if the spots are not directly on the tiger.

One of the benefits of being an artist is that you can paint whatever you want, and I definitely enjoy not always following the rules.
