I was working with the idea of a horse and some wolves but I could not get the composition to come together. Then while listening to the news I heard of the terrible slaying of students at Ecole Polytechnic in Montreal. Not that I would in any way compare a wolf to that heinous monster with the gun, but it just struck me that in this artwork the prey could not be the victim, I had to turn the tables around.
