I was having some fun putting the very peaceful, yet powerful predators, in such close proximity to their fun and frisky prey, yet not prey.
One of the days that I was particularly focused on the background for this painting, it was close to -40, and Timmins was covered in this amazingly beautiful ice fog. It was perfect, I really tried to absorb it, and then recreate it on the canvas.
When I was designing the Merry-Go-Round horses, I was trying to come up with a theme for each horse, and I decided to go with, horses that I has already found interesting enough to paint.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find the three Merry-Go-Round horses on my web site. Two of them will be relatively easy to find in my paintings, one of them actually appears in two different pieces. The third will be more challenging, therefore I will give you a clue. Based on research, and to the best of my knowledge, it is accurate historically. However the colorful Merry-Go-Round horse is not exactly how this horse appears today, nor how it appears in one of my serigraphs.
