Stock Market Turmoil

$3,300.00

Acrylic on Canvas ~ 2009
27 x 44” ~ 67 x 113 cm

When my husband and I went down to New York City, for my group show at the ICO Gallery, we spent a lot of time wandering around looking for recognizable landmarks. At one point we ended up in front of the New York Stock Exchange. I was already thinking about stock exchanges, because they dominated the news, and market losses were having a profound effect on many people’s lives

The bull traditionally represents a positive trend in the markets, when stocks are going up. The bear represents a down turn in market value. Historically we remember the bear markets far more intensely, the “Wall Street Crash”, “Stagflation”, “Black Monday”, the “Dot-com Bubble,” and of course “The Subprime Mortgage Crisis.” Who needs to name the good times, bull markets are just enjoyed, and forgotten.
