Social Media Influence

This social media break meme with a dark wolf, and a light wolf is symbolic of the influence social media is having on society today. The two wolves represent the extremes people can experience when they go down the social media rabbit hole. There have been some very positive things about social media, being able to connect with family and friends, finding people who share your interests world wide, sharing your art whether it is visual, musical, literary, dance, or something else, finding a support group for your problem or illness, or supporting a worthy cause.

Sadly however there have also been some very negative aspects to social media. It can be addictive, cause jealousy (FOMO) and give you a poor self image when comparing yourself to others. There is bullying online, the spread of mis-information, the rise of hate groups, and social media has contributed to the polarization of society in general.

It is impossible to put the social media genie back in the bottle. Hopefully, eventually, a way will be found to ensure that there is more accountability, kindness and truth online. My advice, go for a walk and get out into nature, if you are lucky and circumstances allow this. Distance can offer you a layer of protection from the negative aspects of social media, and even if your experience is positive, your body and your eyes will thank you for getting away from your phone or computer.
