The skunk is striking in its appearance, however there is an underlying current of danger if you venture too close. The striking black and white coloration of the snake, sends a warning to would be predators, that this animals is not to be messed with. Its smelly spray has a range of 10 feet, and takes a long time to fade, in the absence of a good tomato juice rinse. Perhaps the tomato juice is the reason why dogs are so much slower than wild predators to learn the lesson about not medaling with skunks.
