Pandora’s Trojan Horse, represents the threat of Climate Change to animals in the Arctic and Antarctic regions, especially the danger of a slowly rising temperature, and glacial melt. This underwater art shows the threat posed by Pandora’s Trojan Horse’s cloven hooves, as he advances menacingly towards the swimming penguin, and the polar bears. The current collapsing and melting edges of the glacial ice in the polar regions, will have serious detrimental effects on the feeding, and breeding areas for the iconic symbol of the north pole and the south pole. Problems caused by the melting ice caps are not going to be limited to the animals living above the Arctic Circle however, they will also affect people living in coastal areas all over the world.
The glacial ice sheet on Antarctica alone, (which is up to 3 miles thick in places), currently contains 70% of the fresh water on earth. Glacial Caving is increasing, with massive chunks of ice in some cases the size of small islands, breaking off from the thick ice sheets that extend into the water on the edges of polar land masses in the Antarctic and Arctic Circle. The rising sea level caused by these ice burgs melting, will cause problem for anyone around the world living in a coastal area. Rising water levels, and the stronger storms caused by Climate Change, are already adding complications to coveted costal real-estate. Insurance rates have been rising to reflect the increasing level of damage to property now being caused by the increasing costal storm surges. Who knows, maybe if the people move away that will leave more beaches for the turtles.
