This abstract bird art combines my natural tendency towards realism, with the fun of just mucking about with paint. I have always included some abstract elements in realistic settings, however the two styles are more often becoming integrated in my artwork. It is not my intension to move to one style or another, I enjoy combining them, or not, as each particular artwork dictates.
The mother ostrich, or hen, lays the largest eggs in the world. The hen can weigh up to 300 pounds (135 kg). Because of the mother ostrich’s large size compared to all other birds in the world, these huge eggs are actually the smallest bird eggs if you are measuring by the ratio of the size of the mother to the size of the egg. An ostrich egg is only about 2% of the mother’s weight. So ostrich eggs are both the largest, and the smallest eggs in the world.
