If your dog gets sprayed by a skunk, tomato juice works. Many years ago, we had a dog that use to like running into skunks. I use to keep a big can of tomato juice on hand, just in case. When he got sprayed, I would soak the dog from tip to tail, let the tomato juice sit on him for a good 10 minutes, then rinse and wash him. I could not detect the skunk smell on him after that. I could still smell the spot in the living room, where he paused for about 1 second, while I was chasing him into the shower, but the dog himself was free of skunk scent.
