Nonchalantly Walking the Dog

Acrylic on Canvas ~ 1989
39 x 41″ ~ 75 x 103 cm

In this dystopian paintings a man walks a dog past many smoke stacks as sheep follow. This pollution art represents public inaction on Climate Change.

My first studio was in downtown Saint John, I use to walk home every day across an overpass. In the winter I was often walking home just as the sun was setting over a pulp mill Because of all the particulate matter in the air, the sunsets were really quite vibrant and beautiful. I can remember as a small child some of the grownups saying, “That’s the smell of money.”
