Some dinosaurs had feathers and were the ancestors of birds. This dinosaur art with a heron flying overhead represents that very ancient connection.

This dinosaur art features colorful feathered velociraptors, with a similarly colored heron flying overhead. Other herons are reflected in the glass of the building, while more dinosaurs scamper around on the concrete. We now know that some dinosaurs had feathers, and that birds are descended from the same branch of the dinosaur family tree as Tyrannosaurus-rex.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? The egg came first. The hard waterproof egg shell with the yolk sack, basically the egg as we know it today, predates the chicken by over three hundred million years. That is what you call a no contest win for the egg, over the chicken. Wild chickens, (Red junglefowl) still exist today. They evolved primarily in Asia several million years ago.

I named the building in the background of this serigraph, the ‘Mary Cormier Arts Center’, as a tribute to my mother, who very sadly passed away this year. She was a wonderful mother, and a talented artist. She always encouraged and supported me in all of my artistic endeavors.
