This shows a polar bear hitching a ride on a shrinking iceberg as it is melting.

This iceberg meme shows a polar bear hitching a ride on an ice floe, as it is quickly melting. My artwork is celebrating these amazing polar swimmers, who enjoy taking a dip in water that is barely above freezing. No wonder they like to climb up, as in this iceberg meme and take a break. A thick double coat of fur, and a thick layer of fat helps to both insulate and float the bear for its long cold swim.

With Global Warming the sea ice is becoming more fragmented. Polar bears who regularly swam across bays, and between icebergs in search of food, are more frequently today being seen in open water. The longest ever recorded swim by a polar bear was 427 miles (687 km) in the Beaufort Sea, and it took nine days to complete. Phew, that is an extreme athlete!
